Grilled Pear Halves in Red Wine with Ice Cream and Gingersnaps

Ingredients 3 cups Red Wine
3 Cinnamon Sticks or Ground Cinnamon Spice)
1 cup Granulated Sugar
3 Whole Cloves (optional)
4 Bay Leaves
2 tbsp Brandy (optional)
4 Pears, peeled
1/2 cup Butter, melted
1 tbsp Brown Sugar
Vanilla Ice Cream
Gingersnap cookies

Indoor Preparation Place red wine, cinnamon, sugar, cloves, bay leaves and brandy in large saucepan and heat until slightly boiling. Add peeled pears to syrup and simmer for 15-30 minutes over low heat. Let mixture cool in refrigerator until dessert time.

Outdoor Preparation At dessert time, remove pears from wine syrup, brush with melted butter and place on grill, cut side facing downward.
Turn pears after 1-2 minutes, baste with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Close lid for 2 minutes on low heat, then remove from grill.
Remove and top with vanilla ice cream; drizzle with wine syrup and serve with gingersnaps (optional, but delicious!)
