ABOUT WOLFEDALE ENGINEERING LIMITED
Wolfedale Engineering Limited was founded in 1977. It began manufacturing steel propane cylinders, commonly referred to as tanks, with 75 employees and one 30-year old press. Within three short years, Wolfedale Engineering automated its production facility, extended its product range, and became the largest propane gas steel cylinder manufacturer in Canada. It is now a vertically integrated, state-of-the-art company with unique industry processes, which enable it to produce up to 1.5 million units per year.

ABOUT THE GAS GUARDIAN SYSTEM:
Fiesta's and Wolfedale Engineering's exclusive Gas Guardian System combines barbeque and propane safety features into one total peace-of-mind package. The Gas Guardian System integrates the Overfill Protection Device (O.P.D.), Redundant Valving, Type-1 Quick Connect Coupling Valve (Q.C.C. 1), Flow Limiting Device, and Thermal Disconnect Safety Mechanism. These features and innovation help Fiesta's and Wolfedale Engineering's ongoing commitment to improve cylinder safety and develop technology for the industry as well as consumers. Wolfedale Engineering is the only propane cylinder manufacturer in North America that has an independent CSA approved inspector on site to continuously monitor tank production and to provide quality control.

Overfill Protection Device (O.P.D.) prevents accidental gas leaks caused by tank over-pressurization, the leading cause of tank gas leaks. The float in the tank will automatically stop filling at 80% capacity, leaving a 20% area for the expansion of the liquid propane when it is exposed to warmer temperatures. Without this safety feature, the relief valve may open and discharge propane, creating a potential safety hazard. Propane tanks equipped with the O.P.D. safety feature are easily identified by their triangular valve wheel.
Redundant Valving prohibits the flow of gas to the burner unless the connection is 100% correct.

Type-1 Quick Connect Coupling Valves, also referred to as Q.C.C. 1, ensure fast tank hook-ups requiring only hand tightening. The redundant valve system inhibits the flow of gas to the burner if the connection is not 100% correct.

Flow Limiting Device detects a change in pressure and dramatically reduces the flow of gas if the hose is cut or ruptured.
Thermal Disconnect Safety Mechanism is built into every Fiesta gas regulator. It detects a change in temperature and automatically shuts off the gas flow in case of fire.

CYLINDER SAFETY:

  • There are limits on how much propane can be put into a Liquid Propane (LP) cylinder. A typical 30 lb (13.6 kg) cylinder holds approximately 20 lb (9 Kg) of propane. This extra unfilled volume leaves some room for the liquid to expand.
  • When the LP cylinder is connected, the grill must be kept outside in a well-ventilated space. When not in use, the LP cylinder valve must be turned to the OFF position.
  • If storing the barbeque indoors, the LP cylinder must be disconnected, removed, and stored outdoors. Never store an LP cylinder indoors.
  • The cylinder valve outlet must be plugged whenever the cylinder is not connected to the grill or is being transported.
  • Always store LP cylinders upright and in areas where temperatures won't exceed 49 degrees Celsius (120 degrees Fahrenheit). Never store a spare LP cylinder on or near a grill or any other appliance.
  • Always check for gas leaks every time you disconnect and reconnect the regulator to the LP cylinder.
  • Never attach or disconnect a LP cylinder or move or alter gas fittings when the barbeque is in operation or is hot.
  • Never use an LP cylinder if it shows any signs of dents, gouges, bulges, fire damage, corrosion, leakage, excessive rust or other forms of visual external damage; it may be hazardous and should be checked by a liquid propane supplier.
